Pastors & Staff

Jason Truell

LEAD PASTOR

Pastor Jason has served as the Lead Pastor of Ladner CRC since the beginning of 2020. Originally from Vermont, Jason and his family were missionaries in Taiwan before moving to the Vancouver area.

Jason graduated with a B.A. from the University of Virginia, and went on to complete an M.Div. from China Evangelical Seminary in Taiwan, and a Th.M. from Regent College. He and his wife Kristie have four children: Ellie, Abram, John, and Gabby. As a family, they love skiing, hiking, and swimming in the beautiful mountains and lakes of British Columbia.

Nancy Yang

PASTOR FOR CHINESE MINISTRY

Pastor Nancy (Chun Li) Yang accepted the Lord at Heather Bible Chapel in Vancouver in 2009, one year after emigrating from China. She has been trained as an evangelist through Short Term Mission Training Center and received an M.A. of Christian Studies from Regent. Before coming to Ladner CRC, Nancy served at churches in Vancouver and Richmond.

Nancy and her husband Steven love to open their home to share the Gospel in the neighbourhood. As a mother, and now a grandma, Nancy’s passion has always been to build a house of prayer for the next generation of all nationalities.

Dorothy Vander Velde

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

Dorothy Vander Velde, has been our Office Administrator since September 2015. She oversees people coming and going in the church, communications with the congregation, bookkeeping, and many other things that comes across her desk.

Dorothy is married to Ken and they have a son, Robert who lives in Philadelphia, and a daughter, Michelle and son-in-law, Tyler and three grandchildren who live in Medicine Hat. Drop by for a cup of coffee and a piece of baking if you wish to say “Hi”.

Paul Kemp

MUSIC COORDINATOR

Paul Kemp, originally from Ontario, moved to Vancouver in the 1980s and earned a Bachelor of Religious Education with a major in Church Music from Northwest Baptist College (Vancouver/Langley). His extensive experience includes accompanying and directing numerous church, school, and community choirs and related events. He has served as a judge for the Canadian Juno Awards in the gospel music category.

Beyond his musical pursuits, Paul enjoys travelling, photography, collecting unique items, and classic cars. He is married to Terry, and they have three adult daughters and two grandchildren residing in the Vancouver area.
