Quarantine Letter #1
Dear Church Family,
As you know already, the Council has voted unanimously to cancel corporate gatherings for Ladner CRC until Mar. 27. That means Sunday morning worship on Mar. 15 and 22, as well as all other groups. This may go longer—we will evaluate as things develop.
Sunday worship when we gather together with God’s people is a big deal. Like you, I love the rhythm of gathering to proclaim God’s worth by re-telling the gospel story. I’m heavy-hearted to cancel.
But we think it’s the wise, loving thing to do. The COVID-19 virus is spreading rapidly, with older people and those with underlying health conditions most vulnerable. If the spread of the disease can be slowed down, then it “flattens the curve” and prevents sick people from overwhelming the health care system. That means those who need help can get it. Not meeting is a way to care for our congregation as well as love our neighbours and serve them.
We can still worship and love each other, even though we aren’t meeting in big groups. You can worship by:
- Watching the livestream of a previously recorded service.
- Worship at home with family using the worship guide at the following link. The worship guide includes prayers, songs, and Bible reading. It’s a great way for households, families, and spouses to worship together Sunday morning.

This, most of all, is a chance to believe the gospel. Jesus still reigns as king and calls us to live by faith, knowing that he loves us, is in control, and empowers us to love others.
We will be in touch with further resources and encouragement. Please reach out if you need help or want to talk to someone.
Together in the Lord,
Jason
